As Americans collectively move toward more environmentally thoughtful lifestyles, it only makes sense that auto dealerships follow suit. However, there are only a few dealerships throughout the nation that have committed themselves to social and environmental consciousness. As Bill Jacobs BMW/MINI began planning for their new dealership, they decided to start moving in the right direction—continuing to grow as an organization while developing a more eco-friendly retail facility. On September 12th, the company will break ground on a new state-of-the-art BMW/MINI dealership in Naperville, IL. Slated to open in Fall 2009, the facility will take advantage of water, recycling and ventilation technologies to make the dealership more environmentally stable. The Bill Jacobs Environmentally Advanced BMW/MINI Groundbreaking event was a great success! Speakers in attendance were Mayor Pradel, Peter Miles and Bill Jacobs, himself! Bill Jacobs was presented the prestigious "Chicagoland Dealers Care" award by Mark Scarpelli, CATA chairman.

UPDATE!

-Sun shading controls on the large glass areas to control the sun in summer - All lighting is provided by high lumen per watt fixtures and no incandescent lighting is used in the facility - Storage and utilization of waste oil to heat several portions of the building including heating the service department at night, heating the service reception areas through radiant heat in the floors, and providing snowmelt at building approaches and exterior display areas for safety without the use of salt - Low or no VOC paints are being used in the office and showroom areas of the facility to provide a healthy atmosphere for the employees
